French companies are reworking their cybersecurity strategies as AI-driven threats and tighter regulations reshape the landscape, according to a new report from advisory firm Information Services Group (ISG).
Budgets Rise, But Guidance Needed
Security budgets are growing. However, many enterprises in France still need expert advice to set priorities and reduce risks. “The way companies in France choose security services is changing,” said Julien Escribe, partner and managing director at ISG. “Enterprises need clear guidance to focus on the right issues and strengthen their defences.”
Shift Toward Unified Security Platforms
Instead of using several tools, many organisations now prefer all-in-one security platforms. These solutions make oversight easier and reduce complexity. In addition, cloud adoption has created new integration and management challenges. As a result, services like secure access service edge (SASE) are becoming more popular.
The ISG report notes that businesses want centralised platforms for a single view of threats. At the same time, they rely on managed service providers for automation, technical support, and to fill talent shortages.
Regulation Driving Change
Compliance is another key factor. More than 15,000 French businesses must now follow new rules under EU laws like the NIS2 directive and the AI Act. Therefore, companies are adding governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) policies into their security strategies.
AI: A Double-Edged Sword
Cybercriminals are also using AI to launch more advanced attacks. Consequently, detection and response are becoming harder. To keep up, French companies are investing in AI-driven tools, automation, and employee training.
“Clients want providers that can merge the best tools into one platform for greater efficiency,” said Benoît Scheuber, principal consultant and security analyst at ISG.
